Woohoo! You've been invited to speak at an Upstream event.

Here are some quick tips to help you rock your speaker experience on our platform.

Before Your Event:

  • Create an Upstream account or sign in to your existing account.

  • RSVP for the event you're speaking at on Upstream.

  • Once you've RSVP'd, let the event host know so they can mark you as a Speaker on the event page. This way, your profile photo will show up on the event page when someone shares the event on social!

Make sure you have the following:

  • A laptop or mobile phone with a camera and mic.

  • A stable internet connection.

  • We recommend wearing earbuds or headphones to prevent audio echoes.

On the Day of Your Event:

  • When it's time for your event, you join the event (up to 10 mins before) using the link in your calendar invite or by simply opening the Upstream app and clicking "JOIN EVENT" on the event page or push notification.

  • You'll be prompted to give access to your camera & microphone. Click "ALLOW" on your browser or mobile device.

Audio Lobby

Every event has a pre-event audio-only “lobby” with a 10-minute countdown clock. You can join up to 10 mins early and chat with other event attendees over audio. Once the clock goes to zero, the event host will start the event. You'll be muted by default.

Go Live

Once the host starts the event, they'll bring you up as a speaker with video. You'll simply click "GO LIVE" and all the attendees will be able to see you. Note: You'll only be able to hear the event host and read comments in the chat.

Once you're finished sharing you can click "FINISH SPEAKING" to stop presenting your video and re-join the audience.

Troubleshooting:

  • Always make sure you have the latest version of the Upstream App.

  • Restarting the app by swiping up to quit the app should resolve most common bugs.

  • Try using an alternate device.
